la belle et la bete
2023 -ongoing
This project plays with the body, distorting it, mocking it, and yet exploring it relentlessly. I laugh at it, at its flaws, at its imperfections. I tell myself I don’t need it, that my mind is enough. But in reality, that’s not true. I’m trapped in this body, in these images, in what society imposes on me through the gaze of others and the objects that surround me.
Each photograph is a game, a stage where the body is both the actor and the victim. Mannequins, mirrors, clothes—these objects become tools of manipulation, filters through which I reveal, hide, and betray myself. The body is never what I want it to be; it’s always a distorted version, a projection of what’s expected of me.
I try to free myself from this constraint, telling myself that the mind should dominate the body, but the truth is elsewhere. The body, in its falsification, in its imprisonment within the image, forces me to confront a reality I cannot ignore. In the play between the freedom of the mind and the prison of the body, is there any real escape?
